JAMMU: A zoo’s paramount purpose is to promote wildlife conservation and expose the general public to various animals. A zoo exists to educate people. The educational potential is at its greatest with a professional educator designing a learning activity to be used at the zoo. It’s a great tool to design focused activities connected to a long-term curriculum.
Keeping this in mind, Primary Wing of JK Pubilc School, Kunjwani organised a visit to the zoo. Children went closer to the cages of monkeys and baboons. They also saw different kinds of birds and were briefed about their names.
The main aim of organising such a visit was to develop naturalistic skill, sense of developing animal love and get closer to them.
In addition to a zoo being a fun and safe place to learn, there are some reasons zoos are effective educational tools for formal learning.
Students enjoyed the visit a lot and it was quite a rewarding experience for them.
