Workshop on e-Granthalaya held at GGM Science College

JAMMU: In continuation to ongoing innovative series of steps being taken by Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon, Commissioner/Secretary Higher Education Department, a one day workshop on e-Granthalaya an automated Web Based Library Management Software was organised at GGM Science College, Jammu, on Monday in collaboration with National Informatics Centre Jammu (NIC) for providing the best library automation solutions.
The workshop was conducted by a team comprising NIC officials including Ram Kumar Matoria (Technical Director, NIC HQ New Delhi) and Saleem Khan, Additional SIO, NIC Jammu Centre.
The Nodal Principal Dr. Ajeet Angral welcomed the team and emphasised the significance of Library Automation System in government colleges of Jammu Division.
The Resource Person R.K. Matoria explained about the state of the art web based digital library software E-Granthalaya, which is developed by NIC using the latest technology and open source tools.
More than 4,000 libraries of various State and Central Government organisation were automated by using this software. The current version of E-Granthalya is 4.0 which is a Cloud Ready Application to facilitate web-based data entry with a Centralized Database.
The resource person gave a live demonstration of the e-Granthalaya Software. An interactive session was also conducted where the participants from the various colleges of the Jammu Division raised their queries and officials from NIC Saleem Khan and R.K Matoria clarified their doubts.
The workshop was attended by Library Staff and Computer Science Faculty of approximately 25 colleges of Jammu Division. Prof. Vinus Sharma, HoD Department of Computer Science of GGM Science College, Jammu gave the brief note about the workshop.
