Numerous measures initiated for upgrading sports infra in JK: Dy CM

JAMMU: Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh on Wednesday said the government has undertaken several measures for upgrading the sports infra in the State so that the aspiring sportspersons get the requisite facilities as well as platform to hone their technique and talent.
The Deputy CM was interacting with a group of 26 players of Sambo Association (Sambo is a form of Russian martial art), who have participated in the national championship held at Devas, Madhya Pradesh and have won 21 medals in different categories.
Dr Singh said that it is a matter of pride that the sportspersons from our State have started to make their mark at national and international levels by winning at these levels. He said that by doing so, they are ensuring that their State and respective areas get recognition at various levels.
The Deputy CM assured the association that their genuine demands would be addressed at an earliest so that they don’t face any inconvenience vis-à-vis the facilities and the requisite infra needed for the game.
He said that the Central Government has already sanctioned an amount of Rs. 200 crore for developing the sports infra in the State especially the renovation of existing stadia and undertaking the new ones.
VC, Kissan Advisory Board Daljeet Singh Chib, General Secretary of the Association Rohit Sadotra, Coaches Rameshwar Singh and Komal Gupta were also present on the occasion.
