JAMMU: The Coalition Government’s tenure so far is marked by gross non-delivery, acknowledged failure to fulfill the promises given to the people of State and a betrayal of the people, particularly the poor, disadvantaged and the unemployed.
This was the observation of former Minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla while addressing party workers during the membership card distribution programme in Bhour Camp area of Gandhi Nagar Constituency. The programme was presided over by the Congress District Jammu President, Anil Chopra. The programme was organized by Block President, Amrit Bali Sarpanch Bhour Camp.
“The BJP which claims to be the champion of Jammu people has betrayed the mandate of the people by taking U-turn on all vital commitments made with the people of the State, especially Jammu region during elections,” Bhalla said.
Former minister expressed concern over problems of common people multiplying with each passing day, saying it seems that the PDP-BJP Coalition Government is yet to take off despite over 22 months of being in office in Jammu and Kashmir. “Except for pursuing anti-people policies, the Coalition Government has bade farewell to development and governance”, Bhalla said, adding that the impact of the government is zero in rural and far-off areas with infrastructural development and utility services remaining in shambles.
He stated that the woes of people speak volumes about the failure of government on all fronts.
“The government has not only failed on development front but it has also not been able to seek solution to political issues, as a result of which the State underwent a most traumatic phase this year”, the former minister said, adding that the unprecedented crisis took toll of governance that left the people of the entire State to fend for themselves. While scarcity of rations at the CAPD sale outlets caused enormous hardships to the consumers, the erratic power and drinking water supply added to their miseries, he asserted.
Bhalla said that utility services are almost in shambles with Coalition Government just doing lip service. The coalition government should work towards creating an environment for an all-round economic development of the State and will also work for the prosperity of the people, he added.
Among those who were present on the occasion include Dr Ramakant Khajuria, District Vice President JKPCC, Munish Mahajan Naib Sarpanch Old Satwari Kewal Krishan, Naib Sarpanch Gadigarh Jagmohan Sharma, Naib Sarpanch Kapoor Lal Ward President Bhour Camp, Bal Krishan, Madam Veena Sharma, District General Secretary, Rakesh Gupta Vice Block President Joginder Pal Ward President Congress Party, Panch Ajay Kumar Ramesh Sharma, Sandeep Sharma, Sham Lal, Dharam Pal senior leaders Chairman Putto, Sunil Slathia, Ravi Bhagat, Jasvir Singh Fouji, Mohammad Ashraf, Amrik Singh and Bittu Sharma.
