DGP felicitates budding shooters, says JKP on forefront in sports arena

JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP), besides its professional duties, has earned a good name in sports arena also. The organisation has conducted various national and state level sports championships to inspire the youth of the State towards sports.
This was disclosed by the Director General of Police (DGP), Dr. S.P Vaid, while interacting and felicitating the young budding shooters of the State at a function held at Gulshan Gound here on Saturday.
During the interaction, it was brought out that the shooting teams of the State are participating in various State and National Level Competitions and so far 21 medals have been won at the National Level Competitions which include eight gold, seven silver and six bronze.
Addressing the budding shooters, Dr. Vaid assured that the police range will be thrown open to our young shooters from the civil society and educational institutions as well.
He said that all required technical support will be provided by JKP to the young shooters to hone their talent. He said that similar facilities would be made available for young shooters at Srinagar and will be expanded at all district headquarters across the State.
Dr. Vaid said in sports arena JKP, in coordination with J and K State Sports Council, would organise more sports events in the State with the aim to provide platform to the youth to refine their talent and participate in different state, national and international tournaments.
On the occasion, Secretary J and K State Sports Council, Waheed-ur-Rehman Parra, who was present also interacted and addressed the function. He assured that all efforts will be made as well as help extended for promising and upcoming shooters, besides providing additional infrastructure whatever required for the purpose. He complemented JKP officers for their contribution to promote various sports activities in the State.
Earlier, ADGP (Security), Dilbag Singh, who is also President of J and K Rafle Association (JKRA), in his welcome address, threw light on aim and objectives of working of association in coordination with Police Shooting Range and provide all facilities to the young shooters.
Earlier, a young nine-year old shooting enthusiast, Areen Kichloo hit the ceremonial target. Areen is daughter of SSP, M.Y Kichloo.
Among others, the function was attended by IsGP, Yoginder Koul and S.D Singh, DIG Alok Kumar, Vice Presidnet JKRA, K.S Jamwal, General Secretary, JKRA, Sanam Sony, SSsP, MY Kitchloo, Mohan Lal, Roop Raj, Anil Katoch, Anita Sharma and Nisha Nathyal, A.P Mirza, Sohan Lal, Satish Gupta, T.S Tony Deepak Handa, Vinod Sharma and other police officers.
