JK Canoe Sprint team leaves for Nationals

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Canoe Spirint team has set their eyes on getting laurels for the State. An 18-member contingent of boys and girls left for Indore, Madhya Pradesh to participate in National Canoe Sprint Championship.
Under the banner of Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council, the team will participate in the Championship to be held from January 10 at Indore, Madhya Pradesh.
Secretary Sports Council flaged off the team from Srinagar and the players were accompanied by International coach Bilquis Mir.
“The water sport teams from Jammu and Kashmir have performed exceptionally well in almost all the previous National championships. Last time, Kayaking and Canoeing has been the medal winning game for Jammu and Kashmir,” informed the coach Bilquis Mir.
Secretary Sports Council Waheed Ur Rehman wished the team good luck and hoped that the players will perform to best of their capabilities.
“Jammu and Kashmir state sports council is trying best to promote sports at grass- root level and ensuring the maximum participation of sports persons, and enthusiastic youth. We assure all possible support for the development and promotion of water sports in the State,” said Para.
The team was recently given the equipments of the international standard by the chief Minister of the State for preparing the teams for national and international Championships. “We thank and appreciate the support from Chief Minister, who is also the president of the state sports council, Imran Reza Ansari, Vice president of the Council and Secretary Sports Council for providing us full support and latest international equipment’s. We also appreciate the role played by concerned sportspersons in the development of water sports,” added the International reputed coach Mir.
