JAMMU: Police on Wednesday arrested one person and recovered one kilogram of banned forest produce (Keeda Jhaadi) from his possession.
According to a report, a police team from Gandhi Nagar Police Station headed by Sub Inspector Tariq Ahmed during a Naka at Shastri Nagar arrested one pedestrian namely Gulzar Ahmed, son of Mohammad Sultan, resident of Billawar, District Kathua for possessing one kilogram of banned forest produce Keeda Jhaadi having great medicinal benefits and market value of approximately Rs. 2.5 lakh. The arrest was made after a long chase as the accused tried to escape from the site on seeing the Naka party.
The arrested person along with seized forest produce has been handed over to Forest Department for proceedings under Forest Act.
The arrest and recovery was made under supervision of Sachin Gupta DySP SDPO City South and Shazaad Salaria SP City South.
