DODA: Sindra Team won the opening match of Inter-Village Volleyball Championship being organized by army at Bhalla in Doda District, here on Tuesday.
A total of eight teams of different villages from Bhalla Tehsil are participating in the championship, Defence Spokesperson Lt Col Manish Mehta said adding that the matches will be played as per existing rules on knockout basis.
Earlier the tournament was inaugurated by Dr Talib Hussain, Sarpanch, Bhala, who also appreciated the efforts of the army for motivating the youth towards sports.
In the opening match Sindra team defeated Pranu B by straight 2-0 sets.
The finals of the championship will be played on 6th January 2017, Lt Col Mehta said.
