KISHTWAR:In a shocking incident one newly wedded teenage girl died after consuming poisonous substance in Pochhal area of Distt Kishtwar on Sunday.
According to reports,A teenage bride namely Suman Kotwal daughter of Shadi Lal resident of Kotli,Bhadarwah died in mysterious circumstances after consuming some poisonous substance at her in-laws house on Sunday afternoon.
After coming to know about the incident, locals rushed to the spot and alongwith her husband and in-laws shifted deceased Suman Kotwal to District Hospital Kishtwar in critical condition where she breath her last. According to reports, she was married to Sachin Parihar resident of Pochhal, Kishtwar about nine months ago. Police has taken cognisance in this regard and after taking the custody of the dead body performed autopsy. After legal formalities, body was handed over to family members for the last rites.
However parents of deceased alleged that there is some foul play by her in-laws, as she can’t take such an extreme step to end her life.
When contacted SSP Kishtwar Sandeep Wazir, confirmed the incident and said that “An inquest proceeding under Section 174 CRPC has been initiated at Police Station Kishtwar and investigation of the incident is going on”.
While replying to a question, SSP said “though the suicide was the main cause of the death; but the exact reasons that drove the deceased to commit the same were not known,” adding that Kishtwar Police is probing the case from all possible angles and if any foul play was found, guilty will be booked under law.
