KISHTWAR: National Conference MLC and former minister Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo has asked the PDP-BJP coalition to shun rhetoric and concentrate on governance, as peoples’ problems are accumulating with each passing day.
Addressing several delegations of Kishtwar Assembly Constituency, Kichloo said that people were fed up with the hollow slogans of the Coalition Government and were craving for better utility services like scheduled power supply and drinking water besides quality food-grains at CAPD sale outlets. “This insensitive government has left them to fend for themselves”, he added.
Kichloo referred to the problems faced by the people of remote and far-flung areas and said that governance-deficit has made their life miserable, especially after the onset of winter. While interior roads continue to remain dilapidated, other utility services are craving for attention, he said, adding that developmental activities have almost come to standstill due to lack of political direction.
The former minister elaborated over the failures of the Coalition Government and said development has been pushed to back-burner while public grievances were mounting unheard with each passing day. He said CAPD outlets lacked sufficient supplies and the people were suffering on account of health and hygiene, sanitation and other essential services in urban and semi-urban areas. “The promise of 24×7 power supply has turned out to be a nightmare with unprecedented and unscheduled power cuts haunting the people during the ongoing winter season”, he added.
The NC MLC said the internal roads taken up under Prime Minister’s Gram Sadak Yojna have not been completed, the electric transformers are not being upgraded to meet the requirements of people.
Kichloo expressed anguish over shortage of staff in the new colleges in entire Chenab Valley region, especially in Thathri, Chatru, Gandoh etc. He said that scarcity of funds has hit the construction and upgradation of schools at Dachan, Sounder, Marwah, Warwan, Paddar, Nagsani, Zohatru and Thatri areas.
