SDM conducts anti-encroachment drive

JAMMU: The District Administration along with Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Traffic Police and Police Department conducted an anti-encroachment drive in the Janipur and New Plot areas to check the illegal use of public spaces for private use.
This included shops displaying goods and banners on pavements, road, non licenced street vendors and wrong parking. JMC lifted two truckloads of such goods and levied fines totaling Rs 6,500 while the traffic police Challaned 47 vehicles including matadors for not stopping at designated matador stops.
The Sub Divisional Magistrate Jammu North had received various complaints about traffic jams on the Janipur-New Plot road due to unauthorised activities encroaching on roads thus blocking space for public use and also causing traffic jams.
To check such violations, the drive was conducted such that public grievances are addressed.
Present on spot were Sub Divisional Magistrate Jammu North Avny Lavasa, Tehsildar Jammu North Dr. Javed Iqbal, Dy SP Sugandha, JMC MVO Dr. Zafar, JMC Chief Khilafarzi officer Rajesh Gupta, SHO Janipur and other field staff.
