On implementation of the Sixth Pay Commission, the provision of having 33 years service for earning full pension was done away and this benefit was not extended to pre-2006 pensioners causing less pension calculated with proportionate reduction. The pensioners, especially those who opted for voluntary or premature retirement, and released from service on medical grounds were badly affected.
Now it is learnt that after taking 10 years to remove this anomaly Supreme Court and various High Courts, Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) and Department of Pensions/Pensioners Welfare have taken favourable steps and strongly recommended to pay the arrears on revised pension with effect from 1st January 2006.
Government of India is requested to issue final notification, which will financially benefit large numbers of government pensioners across all over the country please.
