Dear Editor,
The government’s rollback of new norms that barred employees from withdrawing their PF corpus before retirement is welcome. If not for the public uproar after the initial announcement, the decision to punish poor employees for their good habit of saving for the future would have been implemented. The government should stop looking to tax small savings. Such efforts will upset both citizens as well as the economy in the long run.
