MENDHAR: While people cry for drinking water, the flowing water from damaged PHE pipes not only goes wasted but also damages the roads and lanes besides causing inconvenience to the people in the densely populated Mohalla of Mendhar town for the last 15 days as brought out by the locals including Mannu Malik, Sonu Sharma, Rakesh Kumar and Rohani Chandan.
The locals said that it is a matter of great concern that AEE Incharge PHE Sub Division Mendhar whom the people repeatedly approach for acute shortage of drinking water is unconcerned with the chronic problems including wastage of water, damage to roads and lanes, inconvenience to the people and above all the national warning of ‘save water, save life’. People of the town demanded a departmental inquiry into the functioning of the team of local engineers of PHE Sub Division and the cause of scarcity of water despite availability of rich water resources.
The locals appealed to the Executive Engineer PHE Poonch to visit the border town of Mendhar and listen to the grievances of the people and take remedial action so that the people get adequate drinking water besides taking appropriate action against the erring officials.
