JAMMU: The Central Government Pensioners’ Welfare Association (CGPWA) J&K Jammu held its 21st Annual General Body Meeting (AGM) here on Saturday in which Vice Chancellor Central University Jammu, Dr. Ashok Aima was the Chief Guest.
Prof Aima lauded the services of the pensioners rendered by them during their service career and said the society should avail their talent and experience in pursuit of excellence by different intuitions and the society as a whole. He referred to the involvement of a member of CGPWA, Dr C.M Seth and said that Central University is creating an environment park and also making CUJ as a green university. He invited the members of the association to CUJ under an agreed scheme to interact with the students who would immensely benefit with the talent and experience of the pensioners in different fields.
Prof Aima also commended two presentations made on the occasion and said that transparency in core of the good governance. Similarly, the water crisis in different areas can be solved by using innovations mentioned in the presentation. He also released Pensioners’ Journal 2016 of the Association on the occasion.
In his Annual General Report for the year 2015-16, J.K Vaid, General Secretary of the Association briefed the pensioners about the latest Central Government orders for the welfare of pensioners.
CGPWA J&K, representing 33 central services as on date, has been notified by Govt. of India as Nodal Association for central pensioners of J&K State and is one of the 43 Central Govt. Pensioners’ Associations in the country to get such recognition for operating Pensioners’ Portal under National e-Governance Plan (NeGP).
S.S Wazir, President briefly touched upon the welfare activities being pursued by the Association in service of the civil society, in general and the pensioners and their families, in particular.
V.P Sharma, Patron briefed on the major achievements of the Association, current strength of which has risen to 278 registered members.
K.B Jandial, IAS (Retd) and a noted columnist gave an impressive power point presentation on Communal Harmony & Good Governance. He supported his talk with well researched facts and figures. The house gave thundering applause to the speaker who delved in detail on the very relevant issue.
In pursuance of the high traditions of the Association, one very senior member Maj. Gen. B.N Dhar, PVSM (1926 born) was honoured with Sreshth Vrishth Nagrik Award on attaining 90 years of age and 2 other senior members of the Organization; D.K Sharma GSI and Sardar Saran Singh IFS were honoured with Jeishth Vrishth Nagrik Awards on attaining 80 years age with presentation of mementoes by the Chief Guest.
Vote of thanks was presented by B.K Raina, Vice President of CGPWA.
