‘Defer laying of power cabling in Jammu’
STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: Former State Treasurer PDP and President Citizen’s Forum R.K Chadha today requested to the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to suspend temporarily the Restructured Accelerated Power Development and Reform Programme Project for laying power cables in Jammu region.
“The requirement of this project is 5-6 hour power cut daily for minimum one month in one area but in this sweltering heat people of Jammu has to face this punishment for the sake of fulfillment of a contract with the company,” he said.
“We are not against the project as it is, and that too when the other areas of this State refused to allow this company to lay power cables in their respective cities. We only want the project be suspended during the summer months and the company be asked to start this work in other areas where people can afford 5-6 hours of cut without any adverse weather conditions like in the hilly areas,” he mentioned.
Five to Six hours power cut and plus the usual daily power shunting, he said, is perhaps the award given to the Jammu people who have power meters installed and are paying the maximum power revenue to the State and still being crucified.
“It does not go in line with Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti’s vision that there is a need for proper planning and management to ensure planned development, basic amenities and a decent urban life to people.” He asserted.
If Darbar is moved because of hot conditions in Jammu then why not this power cabling too? he questioned to Chief minister.
