GLS organises promo run for marathon

JAMMU: GLS Society of Education and Research is organising a Jammu Marathon on 13th November, 2016 for which the team on Tuesday organised a promotional run for the event.
Arjun Virdi, 48, a prominent name in the Marathon running circuit of Mumbai had visited Jammu to conduct this event. He is one among the organisers of Jammu Marathon as its Sports Director.
He was accompanied by a group of GLS students of all age groups, a group of local runners and members of organising team namely Anil Sharma, Harjot Singh and Anup Sharma.
His purpose of visiting Jammu is to create health awareness among people as he feels “Jo Fit Hai, Woh Hit Hai”. The promotional run started from Ramnagar Wildlife Sanctuary where the team covered few kilometers. They also visited iconic building of Jammu, Amar Mahal, Hari Niwas Palace and some stretch of Sidhra Bye- pass.
This event will include a Half- Marathon of 21km and three short distance runs for children and amateurs who will cover a distance of 10km, 5km and 3km. The participants will be free to choose any one of these events. All the events will be held simultaneously on the same day.
The domain name for the website has already been registered and information will be uploaded very soon. It iswww.jammumarathon.com. Registrations for the event will be open two-three months prior to the event.
Arjun Virdi addressed the participants, shared with them the importance of physical activities in today’s life and also taught them few very useful exercises.
