Srinagar:- A minor girl, who went missing last month in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, was today found dead in a river near Akura village here, police said.
On March 19, Mattan police station received an application from Afroz Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Seer Hamdan Mattan, regarding the missing of his two-year-old daughter Sheezan Afroz alias Ashree, he said.
The father suspected that his daughter might have drowned in the nearby stream, police said.
The police registered a case following which the investigation was taken up and a massive search operation was launched by the police assisted by SDRF, River police and Marine Commandos (MARCOS).
He said after completion of legal formalities, the body of the girl was handed over to her family for last rites.
