KHOUR: In a short span of 48 hours, Police on Monday arrested the accused involved in the rape of a minor girl.
According to reports, on 16th April 2016, mother of the victim, resident of village Naryana lodged a report that on 14th April 2016, when the family was busy in harvesting Rabi crop, her minor daughter aged about 8 years was alone at home.
On seeing her alone, their neighbourer namely Sanjay Kumar son of Harbans Lal raped her and threatened her not to disclose the matter to her family members. When family members returned they found the victim under severe stress and pain. On 17th April, the girl was taken to the hospital by her mother. The doctor directed them to report the matter to police.
Taking cognizance of the matter, a case vide FIR No.33/2016 under Section 376 RPC was registered in Police Station Khour and investigation was taken up.
As soon as the information was received, teams were deputed to apprehend the accused.
However, the accused Sanjay Kumar had gone underground immediately on getting the information that the girl’s family had approached Police Station Khour. His family was brought under sustained questioning regarding his whereabouts but they refused to divulge.
