JAMMU: SOS International, an organisation for PoK Displaced Persons on Sunday elected Rajiv Chuni as its Chairman for the eight consecutive term. The election was held under Prof J.S Mangal, a senior member of the community, who was deputed as Incharge to ensure free and fair election.
However, the newly elected chairman shall be nominating other office bearers of the organisation.
Mangal said that the nomination of Rajiv Chuni was proposed by Roshan Lal and seconded by V.K Dutta. “Chuni was the lone contestant in fray as no one else has filed nominations”, he added.
Chuni thanked the life members of the organisation for reposing faith in his leadership. “I promise that I will leave no stone unturned to bring much awaited justice but I need one assurance from your side and that is our unity at every point” he added. He said that policies adopted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi led government are disappointing since in the name of welfare of Jammu and Kashmir, government is extending schemes only for valley migrants ignoring the plight of PoK DPs.
He appealed to life members of the organisation for giving impetus to crusade for which they have been struggling for the last 7 decades to get resolution of their long pending demands.
