KATHUA: With the detention of two minors, police today claimed to have solved the alleged murder of a 14-year-old boy whose body was found inside the bathroom of a school in Basholi town of Kathua district.
Two minors were nabbed yesterday for allegedly murdering Karan over a mobile phone, which the victim had given to one of the accused who had later handed it over to his accomplice, a police officer said.
“When Karan wanted his mobile phone back, the two hatched a conspiracy to silence him,” the officer said.
On the fateful day Karan had gone to play at a nearby school, from where the two accused took him to a secluded spot and cut his throat with a sharp-edged weapon.
“After killing Karan, the duo dumped his body in the bathroom of the school and escaped from the spot”, the officer said.
The murder had led to protests by locals after his body was recovered the next day.
