RAMBAN/GHAGWAL: Police on Saturday foiled two bovine smuggling bids by rescuing 14 bovines and arresting two smugglers at two different Nakas.
Acting on a specific information, a police team of Police Post Jawahar Tunnel laid a Naka at the tunnel. During Naka checking, a Tata Mobile bearing regd. No. JK14A-7775 was signalled to stop for checking but sensing trouble, driver of the said vehicle tried to accelerate however cops chased the vehicle and intercepted at some distance.
During checking of the vehicle, five bovines were rescued and driver of vehicle namely Mukhtiar Ahmed son of Ab. Samad Khandey resident of Ladhwal Morh, Btote, Ramban was arrested. A case vide FIR No. 40/2016 under section 188 RPC, 3 PCA was registered at Police Station Banihal. Arrest was made by SI Gurupal Singh In-Charge Police Post Jawahar Tunnel. Meanwhile, Ghagwal Police during Naka checking at NHW Ghagwal seized one truck without number loaded with nine bovines and arrested driver namely Arshad son of Freed Ali resident of Sudmahadev. A case vide FIR No 33/16 under section 188RPC 2/3PCA was registered in Police Station Ghagwal.
