Villagers protest against Flood Control Department

MENDHAR: The residents of Tehsil Mankote, held a strong protest against Flood Control Department and blocked the Mendhar – Poonch road for three hours.
The protesters said that due to large scale destruction of lands and crops during last rains and floods, the government had sanctioned number of protective works and funds released but the same were yet to be taken in hand for construction. They also alleged that the funds so released have been diverted for other works. The protesters raised slogans against the Flood Control Department and staged a Dharna on the road.
Meanwhile Tehsildar Mankote Shehzad Khan reached the spot and after listening to their demands, assured them that their concern will be brought to the notice of Deputy Commissioner Poonch for redressal. On the assurance of Tehsildar, the protesters lifted Dharna and the road was opened after three hours blockade.
