Vikramaditya agrees to be patron of JKOA

JAMMU: President of the Jammu and Kashmir Basketball Association and Member Legislative Council (MLC), Vikramaditya Singh has agreed to be part of the Jammu and Kashmir Olympic Association (JKOA) as its patron.
In a statement issued by the office of the MLC said that it took Vikramaditya some time to finally accept the post of patron in the sports body.
“This is to clarify that while it was incorrect to project me as Patron without my acceptance as at that point of time I had not accepted the proposal and was in process of due diligence of press reports. Some confusion arose due to some news items appearing in various newspapers and I decided to seek clarification on the issue of declaration of elections of JKOA illegal,” the statement said.
It further added, “After the clarifications by the concerned officer bearers, I understand that the elections were held in line with the guidelines of Indian Olympic Association and we are trying to figure out the status and legality of the order dated 15th March, 2016 passed by J and K Sports Council.”
The office of the MLC, in the written statement issued to the press, mentioned, “After satisfying myself with respect to legality of elections from JKOA and having met various Associations, I feel privileged to accept the proposal of associating myself as Patron of JKOA and I assure that welfare of Sports and Sportspersons of the State shall be top on my agenda in all my endeavours.”
