Don't want to do mediocre roles in films Aamir AliMumbai: TV star Aamir Ali may have starred in movies in the past but he says he wants to focus on his small screen career rather than chase mediocre roles in Bollywood.

The actor has done films like “Yeh Kya Ho Raha Hai” and “Raakh”, besides a bit role in “I Hate Luv Storys”.

“Films are amazing but that is not everything. Ultimately, as an actor you want to do good roles. If I am getting good roles in TV then I don’t want to do mediocre roles in films and then feel bad about it… Right now I am very happy doing TV. I am in a very happy space,” Aamir told PTI.

The actor

got his first major break on TV with “Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii” in 2005 and there has been no looking back ever since. He has been part of several successful serials like “Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki”, “Kya Dill Mein Hai”, “FIR”, “Jhilmil Sitaaron Ka Aangan Hoga”, “Hongey Judaa Na Hum”, “Dilli Wali Thakur Gurls”, besides many reality shows.

Aamir says he has been very fortunate throughout his career as there has been no dearth of work for him.

“I have been very lucky and fortunate to have a great career. I am very happy where I am. I have been so busy in the last five years that I haven’t had chance to take a long break. TV loves me the way I love it.”

The actor has now joined Zee TV’s “Sarojini” after the show took a three year leap following the death of its male protagonist Somendra played by actor Mohit Sehgal.

Aamir, who plays a Lucknow-based businessman Rishab, says it is a new show for for him even though he has replaced the previous male lead.

“I have no idea as to what has happened in the past on the show. For me it is a new show. My character will be the sunshine that the female lead Sarojini needs in her life after she has lost her husband Somendra. Hope the viewers welcome me in this avatar with the warmth and love they have always showered on me.
