Mehbooba to return today; media briefing likely
STATE TIMES NEWS
Srinagar: The government formation between PDP and BJP seem very bleak as PDP President Mehbooba Mufti will be returning to Srinagar on Saturday following the BJP refusal to give concrete assurance on the implementation of Agenda of Alliance.
Quoting PDP sources, a Srinagar based news agency reported that the party president Mehbooba Mufti will return to Srinagar on Saturday and will decide to brief the media about the efforts the party made to get assurance on implementing agenda, which was inked between the two parties after two month-long deliberations between the two parties.
PDP leaders who were in New Delhi met the party president at Kashmir House and discussed the efforts the party made to convince the BJP on continuing the alliance.
Sources said that the leaders discussed the outcome of the meetings held with the BJP leaders, including Amit Shah. “They also discussed the media reports where Ram Madhav said that government will not be formed with PDP on conditions,” sources said.
“The chances of government formation are almost very bleak after the BJP refused to agree to create a conducive atmosphere in the State for implementation of the Agenda of the alliance,” a top PDP leader told the news agency.
BJP National General Secretary Ram Madhav on Friday said in New Delhi that it was not possible to form a government in the state on conditions.
“We are not ready to accept any new demand (from PDP). Whatever expectations are there would be possibly fulfilled only after formation of a government,” he told reporters. “It’s not possible to form government on conditions,” Madhav added.
Though the PDP has been insisting that they have not put any new conditions to the BJP on government formation, the BJP has denied continuing the alliance on conditions.
