RAMNAGAR: A deputation of Panthers Party called on SDPO Ramnagar and lodged their strong protest against false and frivolous cases registered against its workers by Ramnagar Police at the behest of felon MLA Ramnagar R.S Pathania who had himself committed criminal offences but had filed false complaints against its innocent workers only to save his own skin.
The Panthers workers strongly agitated the highly biased conduct of Ramnagar Police in shielding the delinquent MLA who had run over his car on the peaceful protests in front of Power Development office Ramnagar near Police Station who were demanding the repairs of their transformers damaged for the last more than one week.
The Panthers workers claimed that rather than booking the MLA for his criminal assaults, filthy abuses, criminal intimidation, provocative utterances and rashly driven car injuring the deliberately protestors, threats to injured not to report the matter to police, the MLA was allowed to go scot free with no FIR having been registered against him. The Complaint lodged by JKNPP on Friday before SDPO Ramnagar states as under:
“Criminal complaint filed earlier against MLA Ramnagar R.S Pathania by several people of the Ramnagar town on 15th March, 16 has been downplayed and disregarded in the most contemptuous manner due to political reasons and at the behest of the said delinquent MLA. It may be once again stated in writing that on 15th March, 2016 the inhabitants of Ramnagar had held a protest demonstration in front of the office of M and RE (Power Department) Ramnagar against the non repairs of their transformers including that of Ward No. 12, which is damaged for the last eight days. While the people were protesting, the MLA Ramnagar R.S Pathania happened to pass from the said place. Rather than stopping and taking note of the grievances of the agitating protestors, the MLA ordered his PSOs to use force against the peacefully protesting people. He even directed his PSOs to open fire who however refused to do so. The PSOs however used physical force against the peaceful protestors to their utter dismay and disappointment.
The people gathered on the occasion requested the MLA to de-board his vehicle and listen to their grievance as they were facing lots of problems due to disrupted power supply in various villages including Ramnagar town. The MLA arrogantly directed the driver of his vehicle to run over the protestors which the driver did. The Scorpio vehicle in which the MLA was riding ran over the people resulting in injuries to one Alam Din alias Aslam. The injured got first aid treatment from Ramnagar Hospital and expressed his desire to file FIR against the erring MLA. The said Alam Din was however threatened by the cronies of the MLA to desist from filing FIR or else he would have to face dire consequences.
The statements of Alam Din regarding threats held out to him have also been duly recorded not only by the people but also in the local electronic media. Not only that one Balram Singh Bandral, son of Jag Mohan Singh even threatened Rakesh Singh alias Vicky of dire consequences including breaking his legs for having raised slogans against Power Deptt. One Ranjit Singh, resident of Kanwa who was accompanying the MLA also threatened the people of dire consequences besides assaulting the protestors. The duo is still to be booked for criminal intimidation at the behest of the said MLA who abetted the same.
As if that was not enough, the MLA later used the platform of Agriculture Deptt. at Town Hall the same day to hurl choicest invectives and abuses on JKNPP workers with an intention to cause provocation and rioting. The said function which was organised to apprise the farmers of the agricultural techniques by Agriculture Deptt. was converted into a launching pad by the MLA from where he made highly offensive and provocative speeches and caused public mischief. The officers of Agriculture Department also need to be investigated as to how they allowed their platform to be used for vilification campaign by the MLA and for malicious propaganda resulting in public nuisance.
It is astonishing that rather than booking the delinquent MLA for his criminal conduct U/S 107, 153, 350, 351, 352, 504, 505, 506 besides other provisions RPC /CrPC, the Ramnagar Police has chosen to harass the innocent people at the behest of MLA. Pertinent to mention that several other criminal complaints are pending against the MLA but the police has failed to act in respect of them and is contrarily harassing the poor and un-influential people.
The MLA has further directed the Ramnagar Police to book some political activists including those of Panthers Party who had sought enquiry into the misdeeds, malpractices, the disproportionate assets raised by the said MLA, construction of a palatial bunglow during the last one year as also the wrongful withdrawal of subsidies and incentives of Horticulture and Agriculture Deptt. in his father’s name, the said subsidies an incentives having been actually meant for the poor and indigent villagers. In a bid to wreck vengeance upon those who tried to expose the misdeeds of MLA, the local police is trying to harass those innocent people which further needs due cognisance.
Hope that this is treated and appropriate legal proceedings in the light of the aforesaid facts initiated against the delinquent MLA”.
In the meanwhile, Harsh Dev Singh Chairman JKNPP has strongly condemned the Ramnagar Police for registering criminal cases of rioting against Panthers Party workers who were seeking the replacement of damaged transformers. He said that it was unheard in the history of legal jurisprudence that people seeking civic amenities of electricity and water were booked under section 147 (rioting) RPC.
He said the MLA Ramnagar who developed a complex due to his multiple failures as MLA was taking recourse to undue influence and coercion in a desperate bid for his political survival and further trying to malign the image of political workers belonging to opposite parties. He sought judicial enquiry into the episode and into the criminal conduct and antecedents of the MLA Ramnagar. He further demanded the due cognisance of statements of Alam Din alias Aslam who was run over by MLA’s car.
