AKHNOOR: Ex-Servicemen (ESM) cell strongly condemned the statement of Jawahar Lal Nehru University (JNU) student Kanhaiya Kumar in which he spoke against army and said that army soldiers raped civilians in Kashmir region.
A meeting of ESM held on Friday at office of the ESM office Akhnoor under the President of ESM unit Akhnoor Captain (Retd.) Jugal Gupta in which other members including Brigadier (Retd.) B.S Sambyal, Col. (Retd.) Bana Ram Sharma, Kundan lal, Sikander Singh, Capt. Santosh Sharma and others were present. The participants in this meeting adopted a resolution for strong action against Kanhaiya Kumar and others for making such unfounded allegations to dent image of Indian Army which has a very high reputation in the whole world.
Jugal Gupta while addressing the meeting said that the army besides saving civilians, had exhibited its dedication to save the lives and property from the natural calamities like earth quakes, floods, avalanches and landslides etc at the cost of their lives. Not only this the army has provided lot of amenities out of Sadhbhavna.
The ESM also decided to hold a large scale programme of assembly of all ex-service men of the area at Nirdosh Chowk Akhnoor on 23rd March, 2016 on the occasion of Shaheedi Divas of Bhagat Singh at 11:00 AM to pay rich tributes to Bhagat Singh as well as to Capt Tushar Mahajan and Capt Pawan Kumar. Capt Jugal appealed to the members to participate in large number.
