LMD celebrates World Consumer Rights Day

KATRA: In connection with the celebration of World Consumer Rights Day and to create awareness about the consumer rights, Legal Metrology Department Reasi organised an impressive function at Govt Higher Secondary School Katra, on Tuesday.
Assistant Controller Legal Metrology, Rajesh Heera gave a detailed account on the role of department in safeguarding the interests of the consumers. He made the students aware about their rights as consumers and urged upon every consumer to assert his/her rights and discharge their responsibility while making purchase and availing services in different sectors . He stressed that the consumers should ask for valid bill, check mandatory declarations, address of the packer, consumer care number, MRP etc. on the pre packed commodity. In case of any violation or complaint, they can approach the department for redressal.
Rajesh Heera also threw light on the theme “Antibiotic off the Menu” of World Consumer Rights Day. The campaign was to stop the sale of meat raised with the use of antibiotic.
Principal GHSS Katra, Tripta Bhardwaj, Inspector LMD Sumit Bhardwaj, Lecturer Arun Jamwal, staff members and students in large number were present on the occasion.
UDHAMPUR: World Consumer Rights Day was celebrated in Govt. Hr. Sec. School Boys Udhampur. On this eve the students from all the houses expressed their views on the rights of consumers and emphasized their rights. The speakers also highlighted the role of consumer Forums and other bodies in creating awareness in the consumers about their rights.
Ashok Sharma, Lecturer in English also spoke on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion Sunil Sharma, the Principal of the institution, appreciated the students for their hand mark and wardsful speaking skills. On this occasion, the principal also flagged off a consumer awareness Rally of the students, which passed through the Main Bazaar of Udhampur city.
SAMBA: Legal Metrology Department celebrated World Consumer Right’s Day on Tuesday at Govt. Higher Secondary School, Kehli Mandi, Samba. The students, teachers and members of various business associations participated in the function. The Assistant Controller, Legal Metrology Samba Anita Sharma, highlighted in detail various rights and duties of the consumers. She demonstrated the aims, objectives and purpose of the “Consumer Protection Act” in promoting and protecting the rights including interests of the consumers in delivering speedy and simple redressal of their grievances.
