JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) on Tuesday urged the election machinery for the conduct of Urban Local Bodies (ULB) elections to rectify the glaring mistakes and discrepancies being noticed in voter lists to ensure the right to franchise to all eligible and genuine voters in the electoral exercise.
Reacting to the reports of large scale discrepancies and mistakes in the voters lists for the forthcoming ULB elections, JKPCC urged the concerned authorities to undertake the necessary exercise to rectify the same in order to ensure the participation of all eligible and genuine voters in the electoral exercise.
The authorities should deal with objections and corrections submitted by the people during the period besides undertaking suo-motto exercise also in order to ensure that all eligible and genuine voters are enlisted and the mistakes are duly rectified within shortest possible time.
Congress Party hoped that necessary corrective exercise shall be under taken by the concerned authorities in a fair and transparent manner.
