JAMMU: Referring to the supreme sacrifice made by the proud son of the soil Captain Tushar Mahajan, the JKNPP Chairman and former Minister, Harsh Dev Singh urged upon the Government of India (GoI) to name Udhampur Railway Station after the Martyr Capt. Tushar Mahajan.
In separate petitions to the Defence Minister and Railway Minister, Harsh stated that the Udhampur brave-heart who fought for the defence of the nation till his last breath had made not only his native land but the whole nation proud.
“Not only the people of Udhampur but the youngmen all across the nation had been persistently urging upon the GoI to recognizs and acknowledge the supreme sacrifice of the youth icon who valued National Flag and national honour more than his life,” he said adding that there was a massive campaign and most genuine demand in the social media and elsewhere for naming of Udhampur Railway Station after Captain Tushar Mahajan.
He said that fulfillment of the said demand could be one of the befitting tributes to the said national hero who laid down his life at a very young age.
Harsh Dev Singh further submitted in his petition that while the GOI had been announcing Ashok Chakras, Shaurya Chakras and other bravery awards for martyrs in various other states which was laudable but regretted that the supreme sacrifices made by the brave Dogras of Jammu region had unfortunately gone un-acknowledged.
He said the GoI needed to further appreciate that the Dogras have played paramount role in protecting and upholding the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the nation and in combating successfully the nefarious designs of secessionist and anti-national forces.
“The naming of Udhampur Railway Station after Captain Tushar Mahajan and conferment of national award upon him would therefore be an apt recognition of Dogra valour and pride,” he said.
