JAMMU: On the recommendations of the Governor’s office, the Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council on Friday sponsored the 20-member Leh District women ice hockey team for participation in the international event in neighbouring China. These Leh women are representing the country under the banner of Ice Hockey Association of India in the Asia Challenge Cup scheduled to be held at Taipei in China from 22nd to 26th March.
The Sports Council has approved 50 per cent air fare cost and kit/pocket money to ht extent of Rs 5,000 each.
Earlier, as per a handout issued by the State Sports Council, these Leh women athletes had approached the government office for financial assistance.
