History Prof desperately trying to rewrite history!
JAMMU: Former Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh, who remained a history teacher in the Jammu University before occupying the ‘hot seat’ is trying hard to rewrite history by convincing PDP Chief Mehbooba Mufti to initiate the process of government formation at an earliest against the wishes of the party high command.
Barring Dr Singh, not a single State party leader is keen on forging an alliance with the PDP despite poor response from the Union Government to the offers made by the PDP Chief herself in the last one week.
On Tuesday while Dr Singh listed out achievements of the alliance government during the 10-month term in office, he also made it clear to the PDP Chief Mehbooba Mufti to implement the Agenda of Alliance and use funds from the hefty Rs 80,000 crore package to rehabilitate flood victims and others in the State.
Responding to a volley of questions over undue delay caused in government formation and the reasons thereof, Dr Singh faced media with full determination claiming the ball lies in the PDP court and unless they elect their legislature party leader the BJP cannot come in to picture.
Responding to the specific query what CBM’s PDP Chief is asking for, Dr Singh said the PDP leaders never asked for any specific CBM’s during formal meetings.
He said whatever we have learnt about CBM’s is only through press. They have never raised the issue of CBMs either.
He said all we have is Agenda of Alliance and the same was drafted very carefully after holding long discussions before inking the same.
He said it is based on the aspirations of the people of all three regions of the State. Dr Singh, while referring to the Agenda of the Alliance, said we are committed to implement the same and the PDP too has called it a sacred document. He also expressed high hopes of early government formation in the State. Dr Singh said the onus is on the PDP to elect their legislature party leader and soon after they complete the process BJP too would come in to the picture.
