Teach road safety in schools
Dear Editor,
The rising fatal accidents in J and K have consumed several hundred precious lives including that of young boys and girls. An equivalent No. of people have been left crippled for life just because of multiple issues confronting road and traffic conditions.
The situation is quite alarming and need to be addressed. ( Biker Brotherhood Motorcycle Club (BBMC)- India was founded with mission to promote safe riding/ driving skills and make people specially youth aware about road safety.
The International Helmet Awareness Day, Safe Ride Save Lives, Mega Biker Rally of more than two thousand bikers in collaboration with Traffic Police J and K to spread helmet awareness etc are few of our recent efforts to spread road safety massage among masses.
In order to take these efforts little ahead and save precious human lives, N. N Vohra is requested to issue directions to the Education Department to include ‘Road Safety’ chapter in the school curriculum so that young children are trapped at right age and they feel their responsibility towards safety of pedestrians and also try to become good road users.
The move, will not only catch the children young but also inculcate a habit in them which the other grownup citizens lack.
Since each one of us be it a driver, a pillion rider or a passenger is directly the road user and needs to be made aware of safety. By adding a chapter on ‘Road Safety’ in the school curriculum by the time a person attains the age of 18 and gets his/her driving license, he/she will be well versed with road usage and could prove to an asset on road safety. This way we will be taking Road Safety to next level. Educating children at right age will also carry a rippling effect on parents and whole society.
