JAMMU: The Counter Intelligence wing of the Jammu and Kashmir Police has reportedly registered an FIR against a Jammu-based journalist working with a leading national newspaper for posting objectionable remarks on Facebook against the PDP President Mehbooba Mufti and a particular religion.
The remarks forced police to take cognizance of the Facebook account of the journalist for spreading highly objectionable and sacrilegious content, sources said, adding that the scribe’s Facebook wall was loaded with sacrilegious and intimidating content against a religion and its followers.
The objectionable content, that included contemptuous, sexist and misogynistic remarks against the PDP President, became viral on social media, including several WhatsApp groups, forcing the authorities to take congnizance.
Officials, who are not authorised to speak to media, insisted that CIJ filed an FIR and blocked the journalist’s Facebook handle. When contacted, SSP Counter Intelligence, Jammu, Shailender Kumar denied that his organisation had registered any such FIR.
