JAMMU: DIG Jammu Samba Kathua Range Ashkoor Ahmed Wani on Thursday flagged off a contingent of 21 special athletes of J and K to participate in snow games i.e. Alpine Skiing, Snow Boarding and Snow Shoeing being organised by Special Olympics Bharat Himachal Pradesh at Shimla from 4th to 9th March, 2016.
While flagging off the team DIG Wani said that it is a great opportunity for the society to explore the hidden talent of specially-abled children through the medium of sports.
“I highly appreciate the role and voluntary efforts of J and K Chapter of Special Olympics for taking great indicative to provide opportunity to such unattended talented special athletic hailing from far- off areas. I am all capacitive extend all support to SOB J and K for such noble cause, as J and K police is always committed for such noble events. I pray that they will bring laurels to the state by winning gold medals in the Special Olympics.”
Dr. Ashwani Jojra, State President Special Olympics Bharat J and K Chapter presented key- note address and said that it is the moral duty of every citizen to come forward to encourage such athletes to lead a dignified life with honour and respect as dreamt by Eunice Shriver Kennedy-founder of special Olympic International and supported by Air Marshal (Retd.) Denzin Keclon, Chief Executive Officer Special Olympic Bharat, Satish Pallai Chairman Special Olympic Bharat.
Raj Kumar Sharma, State Sports Director Special Olympic Bharat presented vote of thanks and appealed to all to join the noble mission to add more beauty to the lives of special athletes of the State.
Prominent persons present were SP HQRS/DySP DAR Y.S Salathia , Gurmeet Singh Koulana, B.D Prajapati , Father Prem Paul, Darshan Mehra and T. N Mattoo.
