RAJOURI: A youth who snatched Rs 40,000 from a village woman, was overpowered by the people in the vicinity and handed over to Rajouri Police on Monday.
According to report a youth identified as Mohd Zubain son of Mohd Rafiq resident of Banda Kanna, Tehsil Thannamandi snatched a sum of Rs 40,000 from a village woman when she came out from the Main Branch of J K Bank Rajouri after withdrawing this amount from the bank.
The woman identified as Razia Begum wife of Mohd Bashir resident of Tundi Darar, Tehsil and District Rajouri raised an alarm and the people around chased the youth and finally caught him. The people thrashed the youth and handed him over to the Rajouri Police.
According to the sources there had been number of cases of cheating and snatching of cash earlier also. The police is making investigation from the arrested youth to ascertain whether he belongs to some organised gang.
