JKAACL announces award winners of Annual Drama festival

JAMMU: Secretary, J and K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) , Dr. Aziz Hajini, on Friday announced the awards of Annual Drama festival 2016-17 in the various categories.
The 10-day festival which commenced on 15th December, 2016 and inaugurated by Dr. Haseeb Drabu , Minister for Finance , at Abhinav Theatre, here concluded on 28th December.
Talking to reporters, Dr. Hajini gave congratulations to all the participating groups who have been recommended various awards in individuals and productions by the three adjudicators engaged by the academy namely Ravinder Koul, Anoop Verma and Umesh Singh.
Dr. Hajini disclosed that academy is also organising a two-day conference on Performing and Visual arts including Music, Dance, Drama and Painting very soon on the topic ‘present scenario and challenges of performing and visual arts with regards to the Jammu and Kashmir’.
The award winners are-Best Production: Hamlet (Samooh Theatre); second Best Production: (Kirayedaar-Chanderbhaga Sanskriti Manch); Best Set: Jagpal (Kirayedaar); Best Lights: Suraj Ganjoo (Hamlet); Best Director: Ravinder Sharma (Hamlet); Best Actor: Sandeep Thakur as Hamlet (Samooh Theatre); Best Make-up: Shalini/Seema (Aathvan Sarg-Yamini Cultural Society); Best Costumes: Ravinder Sharma (Hamlet); Best Music: Surinder Manhas (Hamlet); Best Actress: Meera Tapasvi as Salma (Kirayedaar); Best Child Artist: Naman as Tanoo (Oh Jamya Hi Nai…-Society for Environment Education and Modern Art).
Consolation prizes winners are Make-up: Shammi (Chopayer Ye Gash – Vomedh Rangmanch); Direction: Meera Tapasvi and Rajneesh Kumar Gupta (Kirayedaar); Costumes: Seema ((Aathvan Sarg- Yamini Cultural Society); Music: Vikran (Aathvan Sarg-Yamini Cultural Society).
Certificate of Merit (Acting) winners are Sunil Sharma as Pehalwan (Oh Jamya Hi Nai); Rishiv Prabhakar as Maulvi (Oh Jamya Hi Nai); Sharnam Sharma as Danav (Sach ki Bela – Manoranjan Kala Kendra); Balwinder Singh as Hamid (Kirayedaar); Subhash Jamwal as Shankar (Dhaed Roti – Hardeep Dance and Cultural Society); Arvin Tickoo as Veerji Wanchoo-1 (Chopayer Ye Gash – Vomedh Rangmanch); Jatinder Jotshi as Veerji Wanchoo-2 (Chopayer Ye Gash); Aditya Bhanu as Nawab (Chup Kar – Nav Durga Kala Manch); Shazi Khan as Shekhu (Chup Kar); Sapna Soni as Padma (Aarakt Kshan- M.Jackson Cultural Institute of Society); Cherry Sabikhi as Lali (Aarakt Kshan – M.Jackson Cultural Institute of Society); Anoop Giri as Kalidas (Aathvan Sarg – Yamini Cultural Society); Neha Lahotra as Priyagunmanjari (Aathvan Sarg); Samriti Dutta as Priyamvada (Aathvan Sarg); Ashok Bhat as Kidar Nath (Mooi – Bhoorang Foundation Jammu); and Devanshu Raina as Polonius – (Hamlet).
