Two soldiers injured in Bandipora; 1 in Poonch

Srinagar: Two soldiers were injured on Thursday in a terror attack on a search party of security forces in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district, police said.
Acting on specific intelligence input about the presence of terrorists in Shahgund village of Hajin area of the district, security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation, a police official said here.
As the forces were conducting the search operation, the hiding terrorists fired upon them triggering an encounter.
Two soldiers — Naik Madan Singh and Sepoy H Krishna — were injured in the firing by terrorists, who managed to escape from the spot, the official said.
He said the injured jawans were evacuated to Army’s 92 Base Hospital here for treatment. Srinagar: An encounter broke out between terrorists and security forces in Bandipora district of north Kashmir this morning, police said.

Meanwhile, an army soldier was injured in firing along the LoC in Poonch district. “One jawan suffered injuries in firing along the LoC in Poonch district on Thursday. He has been hospitalised,” an army officer said.
Army is probing whether the jawan was injured in sniper firing from across the LoC or speculative firing.
