KATHUA: Minerva Cricket Club Chandigarh and Sabhi Cricket Club Hoshiarpur registered wins in the league matches of the ongoing Seventh Police Martyrs Memorial North Zone Inter-Club T20 Cricket Championship, being played at Sports Stadium, here.
In the first match played today, Minverva Cricket Club Chandigarh defeated Malik Sports Club Delhi by four wickets.
Earlier, batting first after winning the toss, Malik Sports Club Delhi made 138 runs for the loss of nine wickets in 20 overs. Prithvi and Dinesh were the main scorers with 30 and 26 respectively. Rahul Singh of Minverva Cricket Club picked three wickets while Naveed claimed two. In reply, Minerva Club chased the target in 19 overs for the loss of six wickets. Naveed played a knock of 46 runs while Gukeerat Singh Mann contributed 39 runs. Gopal of Malik Sports Club grabbed four wickets. Naveed was declared Man of the Match and was awarded with cash prize of Rs. 2100 and a trophy by Raju Sweet Shop. In another match, Sabhi Cricket Club Hoshiapur thrashed Stadium-XI Kathua by 20 runs.
Sabhi Club, batting first, made 162 runs for the loss of six wickets in 20 overs. Ankit Choudhry scored 50 runs and Amit made 41. Radhay Sham and Shiv Dutt of Stadium-XI Kathua shared two wickets each.
In reply, Stadium-XI Kathua could not chase the target and managed to score 142 runs in 19.5 overs for the loss of ten wickets. Rompy (29) and Prashant (24) were the top scorers. Amit and Hitesh of Sabhi Club picked three wickets each.
Ankit Choudhary was declared Man of the Match and awarded with cash prize of Rs. 2100 and a trophy.
