Phoenix Sports Fest concludes;Sports fest provides platform for youth: DIG

SRINAGAR: Farhan and Owais won badminton titles while Judoka Warriors lifted tug of war trophy in the five-day Phoenix Sports Fest organised by Jammu and Kashmir Police, District Srinagar, at Indoor Stadium, which concluded on Wednesday.
In Badminton final, Farhan defeated Nisar and Owais beat Adam while in Tug of war final, Judoka Warriors outplayed Jehangir Sports.
In the closing ceremony, DIG CKR, Ghulam Hassan Bhat was the Chief Guest and DC Srinagar Dr. Farooq Ahmad Lone was the Guest of Honour. Speaking on this occasion DIG CKR said that police organises these competitions in different sports and performing arts to provide a platform to the talented youngsters to showcase their abilities in these fields.
Referring to the other youth oriented programmes launched by the Jammu and Kashmir Police, the DIG said that the police plans to sponsor coaching for 10th, 12th, under graduate and post graduate students to prepare them for the professional and competitive exams. He said that all the district SSsP have been directed to identify the meritorious students and candidates who can benefit from this programme.
DIG CKR and SSP Srinagar Amit Kumar distributed the trophies and certificates among the winners and runner ups. These awards were given to 323 participants.
Among others SSP Security Maqsood Ul Zaman, SSP Hqr Waseem Qadri, SP East Faisal Qayoom and DySP DAR Feroz Qadri were also present.
