Congress celebrates 132nd Foundation Day;Congress will fight against divisive forces: Mir

JAMMU: Congress on Wednesday celebrated its 132nd Foundation Day at party Headquarters here on Wednesday.
On the occasion, Pradesh Congress Committee President G.A Mir unfurled the Party Flag in the presence of senior leaders and large number of party workers of the District Congress Committee Jammu under the leadership of Anil Chopra.
Addressing party workers here, Mir recalled the long history of Congress Party which is full of sacrifices during the freedom struggle and post independence.
Mir remembered the contribution of great leaders and crores of workers of the party who fought against the mighty British rulers and underwent numerous sufferings and sacrifices for the sake of attaining freedom for the country.
“The 132 years of history of Congress Party and this great nation can’t be segregated but unfortunately those in power at the Centre are trying to distort the historical facts and belittle the role of Congress stalwarts in order to make younger generation to forget the contribution and sacrifices of Congress leaders and workers for the nation,” he said.
The speakers cautioned the people about the challenges posed to the basic idea of India and secularism promoted by the Congress Party and asked the Congress workers to defeat the designs of communal and divisive forces in the country.
They said that Congress Party is a movement and it has to fight against the forces, who spread hatred in the society and pose challenge to the unit and integrity of the country and the State.
