JAMMU: State BJP President and MLA from Jammu West Assembly Sat Pal Sharma is fast losing grip in his own bastion.
In 2014 Assembly polls he wrote history by winning the maiden elections with a maximum margin of over 50,000 votes. But in the past two years it appears his popularity charts too have noose dived in the area due to his disconnect with the masses.
Last week when he was attending a public function he was taken to task by the local residents and some party workers over the issue of executing long pending developmental works in the area.
The situation turned ugly as one of the BJP workers tore apart his clothes before police intervened.
Instead of taking action against the local residents who manhandled state BJP Chief the matter was hushed up to avoid adverse publicity.
Disgruntled electorate had even pasted posters announcing prize money for those who will track him down. He seldom visited areas where people requested him to carry out basic work to improve quality of life. Now another poster has surfaced in the Jammu West Assembly constituency. The poster has been circulated by an anonymous BJP worker and senior citizen who has alleged he was harassed by the state BJP Chief after he raised his voice in support of developing some important public amenities in the area.
The senior citizen and BJP workers also claimed the same leader is now showing disrespect to the party workers in order to cling on to the chair. Through the poster war the veteran BJP worker has also accused the State party Chief of using police force to harass him. The same person also demanded the party high command to take note of the atrocities committed by their party chief in his own assembly constituency.
Referring to the poster war, the veteran party worker claimed instead of delivering on his promises and completing the developmental works the BJP MLA is pressurising the party workers to raise king size hoardings and other propaganda material and carry out positive campaign in his support. The BJP workers have also demanded the party high command to take note of the wrong doings committed by the party Chief and conduct a thorough probe before showing him the exit door.
