Staff welfare top on agenda: CEO J&K Bank

SRINAGAR: Many of my predecessors have been remembered for making various invaluable contributions towards this great institution. I will feel honoured to be remembered as the people’s chairman for contributing efficiently to the human capital of this bank and among organisational priorities, staff welfare will remain at the top of my agenda.
Chairman and CEO Parvez Ahmed said this amid thunderous applause at the Jam-packed SKICC Auditorium here during the welcome party organised in his honour by the J&K Bank fraternity.
The bank’s Executive Presidents, Senior Presidents, Presidents, Vice-Presidents and officers across the hierarchies were present on the occasion. He said, “Its people within the organisations who meet the challenges, turn the tides in their favour and make companies succeed. This institution has witnessed it throughout its illustrious journey that spans over almost eight decades now.”
He enumerated digital banking post demonetisation, restructuring of the loan accounts and business recoveries as three key challenges facing the bank presently.
However, he asserted, “Today I reaffirm my faith and trust in every member of J&K Bank family and reiterate that when we put our efforts together we can meet all these challenges, surmount all the hurdles and succeed.”
“The only thing people need is encouragement, guidance, work-environment and genuine appreciation. We are working out a plan to improve further on all these aspects and I assure you all of complete support on all these counts in near future. Our bank shall pay best packages to its people and provide them an attractive career growth path”, he added.
Taking the audience back into past when the bank issued its first IPO in 1998 and was listed at NSE, BSE, he said, “Those were the days, when I had joined the bank recently. And I still remember the overwhelming support we got from the people of this state that made the IPO most successful issue at that time.”
“I could see what kind of dynamic and emotional equity of the people of J&K coupled with the passion and commitment of people within the bank can create a history. And there I could foresee a great promise awaiting fruition for this institution”, he said.
On the occasion, Chairman was presented with a Kashmiri shawl as a token of love from the fraternity.
Earlier, Executive President S S Sehgal welcomed the Chairman, other dignitaries and officers on the occasion.
“It is in these challenging times, the responsibility to run this great institution was entrusted to Parvez Ahmed as Chairman, whom we know as one of the most dynamic executives the bank has ever had”, he said.
Executive President Abdul Rauf described his assuming the highest chair in the bank as “right person at the right time”.
“Given the circumstances, his person is suited to the challenges we are beset with as an organisation”, he said.
Senior President M Syed Wani said, “Here I would like to assure our Chairman that in the process of realizing his noble objectives, the entire J&K Bank fraternity is behind you with all our dedication and energies. We assure you of our complete support and commitment towards making this institution not only better in terms of achievements but greater in terms of values and excellence.”
Speaking on the occasion, Senior President S K Bhat pitched for making the performance and promotion mutually inclusive.
He said, “We should have fast track career development avenues so that brighter and better people make to the deserving positions. So that we are able to produce leaders in diverse fields.”
Senior President Abdul Rashid hailed the Chairman as man with requisite leadership qualities to captain the ship and guide it out of challenges and rough waters.
Executive President Vagesh Chander concluded the function with vote of thanks. He said, “We are fortunate to work closely under the chairman Parvez Ahmed. We are learning a lot from him. He is the man with perfect knowledge and experience to steer the bank safely amid challenges surrounding us. So the best thing that happened to us (Bank) is that Parvez Ahmed is head of the J&K Bank family and now we safely vouch for a better and prosperous future of our bank under his dynamic leadership.”
