Vigilance raids JDA’s Patwari’s house; booked for possessing disproportionate assets

JAMMU: Sleuths of Vigilance Organisation (VO) on Thursday conducted a raid at the residence of a Patwari, posted in Jammu Development Authority in disproportionate assets case at Channi Rama.
According to VO, an FIR has been on against Shama Parveen, Patwari posted at JDA, wife of Showkat Ali, at present resident of Masjid Mohalla, Channi Rama, Jammu. The verification conducted in the matter revealed that the aforementioned Patwari has purchased one kanal land in Khasra No. 57 (old 417) at Channi Rama Jammu on March 24, 2014 and the aforesaid plot was mutated in her name vide Mutation No. 4794.
The verification further revealed that the suspect has also purchased one kanal more land as Benami property in the name of Akhter Hussain (Brother of her husband) adjacent to aforesaid plot and covered both the plots with common boundary wall. The verification further revealed that the suspect constructed a palatial house on these plots during the year 2014, valuing about Rs. 1.10 crore. Besides, the suspect also owned jewellery and other costly electronic items. During the verification comparative analysis of income of the suspect from all sources, expenditure incurred and assets raised by her revealed that assets owned by the aforesaid Patwari are much higher than her known legal sources of income. It was also found that she has raised huge assets during her service which are disproportionate to her known sources of income.
Considering the inputs, a case under section 5 (1) (e) read with 5 (2) P.C Act 2006 was registered in Police Station Vigilance Organisation Jammu against Patwari Shama Parveen. After obtaining search warrants from the Court of Special Judge Anti-Corruption Jammu, a team of Vigilance Officers conducted the house search of the accused in presence of independent witnesses which was still underway till the report came in.
