Cops prepared for upcoming challenges: Rajendra

JAMMU: Director General of Police, K. Rajendra Kumar on Wednesday underscored the need for transparency in the day-to-day functioning of police to bring about a positive change in the public perception about the force. He said that the cops have to be more dedicated towards their noble service to the people by providing justice.
Rajendra was addressing the cops at police durbars in Police Training Centre Talwara, District Police Lines Udhampur, Reasi and Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy (SKPA) on Wednesday. He said that JKP with its dedication and desire of sacrifice has succeeded in bringing normalcy in the State and the force needs strenuous efforts to bring about more improvement in its functioning.
“Men in field are the representatives of police Parivar and their performance is always judged by the people. We have to keep the expectations of the people and work together for safeguarding the interests of the people and the State,” he added.
DGP said that the force has faced many challenges during past 27 years on various fronts and the situations have been dealt with courage and confidence.
“Cooperation of the people has always encouraged our personnel in dealing the challenging situations and the force has to improve its capabilities and bring visible changes in the working. Adopting new methods of policing, the cops are prepared for upcoming challenges,” said the DGP. He reiterated that people’s cooperation is of vital importance and we have to gain public confidence to strengthen bonds with them.
Rajendra appreciated the Jawans and officers for their bravery in maintaining peace and order in the State. He said that our men have exhibited maximum restrain to avoid collateral damages and saved human lives while fighting the militants. He said that our primary duty is to serve the people and ensure safety of their lives and property of the citizens.
During the visit, DGP also interacted with the senior police officers of the Range and discussed the functioning of their respective units.
He was told that coordinated efforts have been put in place to improve the functioning of the force at different fronts and an efficient mechanism of supervision has been formulated to ensure good policing and better deliverance.
Rajendra was accompanied by IGP SKPA, Rajesh Kumar, IGP Jammu Zone, Danish Rana, DIG, Udhampur-Reasi Range, Surinder Gupta, SSP Udhampur, Shalinder Mishra, SSP Reasi Tahir Sajad Bhat, Principal STC Talwara Jehangir Khan and Additional SsP Mohan Lal Kaith and Sanjay Singh Rana.
