Government employees’ Secretariat Gherao march foiled

JAMMU: Police on Monday foiled government employees Civil Secretariat Gharao march.
J and K Government Employees, Casual Labours, Workers and Pensioners United Platform (JKGECWPUP) had called for Civil Secretariat Gherao to press for regularisation of daily wagers and casual labourers working in different government departments from past many years.
Thousands of employees assembled at MA Stadium. The protesting employees marched towards the Civil Secretariat, however, they were intercepted by police by installing barricade near Indira Chowk.
Addressing a gathering at MA Stadium, trade union leader and Convener of the United Platform, Mohammed Gafoor Dar condemned the attitude of the State Government for not resolving the demands of State working class which are pending since long.
“The State Coalition Government has miserably failed to uphold the commitment with the casual labours of all the departments numbering more than 60,000 despite assurances on the floor of the House,” he said.
They demanded regularisation policy for need based casual labourers of all the departments engaged after 1994 and payment of regular wages under proper wages head/including contractual vocational instructors, implementation of Seventh Pay Commission, enhancement of honorarium of Anagnwari workers and helpers and their promotions as per their recruitment rules.
The rally was also addressed by Kulwant Singh, Hari Singh, Tanveer Hussain, Syed Gulam Rassol Geelani, Abdul Ahad Bandroo, Akhil Sharma, Rajan Sharma, Rajinder Kumar, Nazir Ahmed Molvi, Balbadar Raj, Puneet Sharma, Sanjeev Kumar, Bhanu Partap Singh, Subash Chander, Barkat Ali, Ratna Devi, Swarna, Vijay Kumari, Tripta, Shazia Akhter, Vikramjeet Singh, Karan Singh, Vijay Choudhary, Safia Firdous, Bharat Kumar, Yashpal, Ramesh Singh, Shahid Hussain, Ajiaz Ahmed, Neelam Kumari, Subash Chander, Paramjeet Singh, Suresh Kumar, Ranjeet Singh, Mohd Aslam Khan, Gulam Mehndi and Nishad Ahmed Raina.
Speakers warned the State Government not to test the patience of State working class particularly casual labourers of all the departments including Anganwani workers and helpers who are suffering badly for their regularisation policy and pending wages and declared that the next programme of the united platform will be announced before coming budget session.
