Govt committed for development of border areas: Sham Choudhary

JAMMU: To create awareness among border inhabitants about various state and centrally sponsored schemes besides taking stock of public grievances, Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Sham Lal Choudhary on Sunday convened public grievance redress camps at Sai Khurd and Korotana in Suchetgarh. MLA, Jammu (West) Sat Sharma was also present on the occasion.
While addressing the gathering, the Minister informed the people about various measures being taken by the state government for uplifting the poor, women, youth, farmers, border people and downtrodden sections of the society. He exhorted upon the people to take optimum benefit of government programmes envisaging their welfare and development.
The Minister said the government has launched various welfare and development schemes for the state and its people. “Special efforts are being made to ensure the safety and security of people living in border areas”, he added. A large number of people hailing from Sai Khurd, Kang, Mottan, Rangpur Maulania and other adjoining areas participated in the camps and voiced their grievances.
The people apprised the Minister of the problems being faced by them related to road connectivity, power supply,
water supply, telecom, education and healthcare. In Sai Khurd, the villagers demanded construction of a Community
Hall at Panchayat Ghar Complex besides macadamization of link roads leading to the village besides projecting other issues.
The Minister announced Rs 5 lakh for building a new community hall and directed the officers of Rural Development Department for immediately starting work on it. The villagers also raised their queries regarding disbursement of relief among the refugees from Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK). The Minister informed them that the process of
relief distribution would be simplified so that people don’t face any difficulty in getting their due right.
In Korotana, the villagers demanded upgradation of transformer, replacement of old electricity cables, installation of new electricity poles besides construction of lanes and drains.
The Minister assured them that all their demands would be redressed in a phased manner.
The Minister appealed the masses to come forward and take optimum benefit of various welfare schemes including Ladli Beti, AASRA, State Marriage Assistance Scheme and other financial assistance schemes being implemented by both state and central governments. He asked the people to encourage their children for participating in upcoming entrance exam for Chief Minister Super-50 coaching programme.
