Apropos the Nagrota terror attack, the LoC or border is not a fort that can be sealed or blocked permanently. It is a porous border and a rattled snake is the most dangerous when it is hurt. Surgical strikes have hurt the snake and it’s out to strike. No border with Pakistan is safe, be it Kashmir or Punjab. We have its sympathisers living among us, treason-worthy people and each member must keep vigil of the garrison. Don’t expect the police to catch them if they cross the borders; they are certainly not battle ready. You must guard yourself with total commitment, the guard can’t be down. It is war and each unit is in the war zone, even when located far away from the border. Please remember the crude saying of George Paton: ‘No bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making some other poor dumb bastard die for his country.’
