KISHTWAR : Former minister and National Conference MLC Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo on Thursday criticised the PDP-BJP Government for the hike in prices of rations and said that the anti-people measure has compounded the miseries of poor , who are already grappling with infilation.
“The hike in food-grains is mainly due to wrong policies of the coalition government and it comes at a time when the state is worst hit”, Kichloo said while interacting with the residents of the far-off places of Kishtwar constituency.
He sought immediate rollback of the price rise, saying that on the one hand the government has failed in making available adequate quantity and good quality rations at the CAPD sale-outlets and on the other hand it is testing patience of the rationees by putting additional burden on them. This is yet another anti-people measure after the implementation of Food Safety Act, which had been opposed by the Omar Abdullah led government but introduced by the present dispensation thus depriving huge number of rationed population of much needed food support, he added.
Kichloo also lashed at the present government for increasing power tariff, saying that instead of ensuring its regulated supply, it has taxed the consumers. “How can the poor people pay inflated bills on account of power tariff and ration hike”, he said and termed these sadistic measures as the PDP-BJP version of Ache Din.
The former minister termed the coalition government as dismal failure, saying governance deficit and administrative inertia has resulted in developmental paralysis with utility services almost turning dysfunctional. “As a consequence, the people of the state, especially those living in remote and far-off areas are suffering on account of power and drinking water supply besides rations, medicare facilities and dependable road-network”, he added.
The residents apprised Kichloo of problems confronted to various areas of the constituency.
